Jason Phillips 5K Fitness Scholarship for Big Brothers Big Sisters
On March 18, 2024 we lost a friend, beloved gym member, and extraordinary young man of exceptional potential. Jason Phillips was killed in a car accident 1 year ago this month, but not before making an imprint on many of our hearts. Jason was truly that “1 in a million” personality that exuded such a level of positive energy and likability it’s hard to describe, yet always remaining humble, grounded, and thankful.
In his youth he was a “little brother” of the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization here in Fresno and it played an influential role in shaping his life and character. Fitness became an integral part of his life and for nearly 4 years Warrior Fitness was blessed to have had him as a devoted member as he touched many of our hearts with his smile that went for days and “good vibes” energy.

Our goal is to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fresno to award a little brother and little sister and their respective “big brother, big sister” a gym membership each of their choice of any gym they want in memory of Jason and his passion for staying fit.

Although this will be timed, it's also going to be a very informal race, meaning no timing CHIPS, street closures, DJs, or elaborate ribbons. This first year we wanted all of the money to go directly to the Big Brother Big Sisters and not spend it on those other formalities. Thus it's going to be a run on the sidewalk for a mile and half out (exactly 2,500m) and then back.
Although there will be a very few driveways and apartment thruways, the actual traffic will be miniscule to literally none at all, and at no point will anyone pass any intersections. With that being said, we just ask for you be aware of your surroundings at all times when running.
